In 1971, a “McFantasyland” was created to market the “McKing” of fast food restaurants. This “McFantasyland” was inhabited by characters that we LOVED as kids. In addition to being used in advertising, the characters were used as the basis for equipment in the playgrounds attached to many of the restaurants. Some of the best and most loved support characters were dropped from the restaurants marketing. Officer BIGMAC was one of our favorites -- he was the jailhouse in the playgrounds. Officer BIGMAC was featured in several commercials throughout the early 1970s and early 1980s. He was the chief of police and as such he wore a constable uniform with a disproportionately small helmet resting atop his head bun. As the symbol of law and order in this “McFantasyland”, Officer BIGMAC spent most of his time chasing the villians. The character was dropped during the streamlining of the characters in the mid-1980s but will always be remembered by kids and lovers of “2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun” ! Short sleeve retro tee with Officer BIGMAC graphic on front.
