In 1971, a “McFantasyland” was created to market the “McKing” of fast food restaurants. This “McFantasyland” was inhabited by characters that we LOVED as kids. In addition to being used in advertising, the characters were used as the basis for equipment in the playgrounds attached to many of the restaurants. The Fry Guys were the “horsey” spring riders with their heads on the front. Used to promote French fries when they first appeared in 1972 -- these guys were initially called Gobblins and liked to steal the French fries. They were orignally accompanied by the "Keep Your Eyes on Your Fries" jingle until the jingle was dropped. Their name changed to the Fry Guys in 1983.They were differently-colored, shaggy, ball-like creatures with long legs and no arms, almost resembling a pom-pom with legs and eyes and spoke with sped-up voices. They changed to the Fry Kids in 1987, as the "Fry Girls" were introduced. The Fry Kids were featured with black noses and visible mouths (not the same). The characters were retained after the streamlining of the characters in the 1980s and appeared until 1996. We miss them -- GIVE BACK THOSE FRIES GUYS!
