The Venango Bears were a local team in the Pop Warner League’s, Junior Football Conference which was started as the Northeast Boy’s Club in 1929 by Joseph J. Tomlin and other northeast Philadelphia business owners as a means of deterring local teenagers from vandalizing. The Venango Bears played in the Pop Warner Conference from 1931-1949; then with the Northeast Conference until 1971. The Venango Bears played against teams such as the Tacony Panthers and Holmesburg Rams -- these teams are something we fondly remember our Dads, Uncles and Grandpops talking about ..... ONCE A BEAR -- ALWAYS A BEAR! Short sleeve retro tee with Venango Bears graphic on front.
